Mahala Evelyn Congleton Rowland, 89, Crawfordsville, died 12:43 a.m. Monday in St. Clare Medical Center, Crawfordsville. Mrs. Rowland formerly worked in factories at Indianapolis and the shirt factory at Crawfordsville. She attended Wallace, Waynetown and Mellott schools. She was born July 15, 1915, at Montgomery County, to Sherman and Effie Keller Simms. She married Clifford Riley Congleton. He is deceased. She later married Hershell Rowland. He is also deceased. Survivors include two sons, William, Crawfordsville, and Robert, Parkersburg; three daughters, Jane Hedges, Colorado Springs, Colo., Julia Louise McGinnis and Doris E. Russell, both of Crawfordsville; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Two sons, Jack and Mike Congleton, three brothers, two sisters and five grandchildren are deceased. Funeral services are scheduled 2 p.m. today in Shoemaker Funeral Home, 202 S. Indiana 25, Waynetown. Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call 10 a.m.-2 p.m. today in the funeral home.
